A Surrey Based Floral Design Studio With Suffolk Roots

My name is Leanne and I established Wildstone Floral in 2021 after a career in photographic archives and publishing.

I grew up in rural Suffolk surrounded by a wild and untameable coastline, bountiful hedgerows, grassland meadows and expansive skies. Coming from a family of gardeners, my love of gardening informs my floral design and creative choices. I enjoy watching the seasons evolve, and discovering unexpected combinations.

Wildstone Floral specialises in artful, elegant and naturalistic designs. Clients include Jo Malone, Gaze Burvill, Alitex, English Heritage, and The National Trust. I have created installations and arrangements at RHS Chelsea since 2022.

As a floral design studio, I offer a range of bespoke floral design services. Please get in touch via the online contact form to talk all things floral.

A Note On Sustainability

Outside of the British growing season the majority of my fresh materials are imported, so I maximise sustainability in other areas.  I use locally grown materials as much as possible, and work almost exclusively with British grown materials from late May till early September.

I love working with the bounty which is produced at the height of the British summer, and have established strong connections with many growers in Surrey and Sussex, giving me access to a wide variety of exceptional flowers. I also source materials through respectful foraging, seeking permission where necessary.

All my designs are foam free. Instead I use sustainable mechanics such as chicken wire, pin frogs, willow and twine.

My Floral Style

I love working with delicate and decadent materials. To explore the unusual and unexpected, and create designs which are complex, intriguing and rooted in naturalism.

Movement and texture are integral to my floral style. I believe that flowers should look as natural as possible, and work in harmony with those around them.

I feel it is important to celebrate and appreciate the fleeting beauty and fragility of nature, and work with materials which fade with a subtle grace. I do not use fresh or dried materials which have been chemically dyed or bleached.

My principle inspiration is the twenty acre grassland meadow which borders my childhood home. Managed with expertise by my parents, this amazing space is an extension of their garden and has been awarded private nature reserve status by The Suffolk Wildlife Trust. It bursts with native Orchids, Hawthorns, wildflowers and specimen trees. It remains my most cherished of places.
