Creating A Textural Meadow Installation For A Brand Activation
There’s a magic in finding meadows in unexpected places. Spaces illuminated by plants, foliages, florals and moss create atmosphere, interest and opportunities for striking photography. They elevate events and spaces, and increase engagement with a clients audience. Set design installations such as the one featured here, can be stand alone pieces, or form a wider sweeping vista, depending of the allocated space and budget.
In order to bring a design like this into fruition, I always create a smaller demo version in the studio. This is when materials chosen for the final design are replaced with others, if their colours, form or longevity are not as expected. Quantities, processes and logistics can be finalised and finessed more accurately, which leads to a (hopefully!) seamless and enjoyable installation experience. To see how all the elements work together as the light moves through the design over the course of the day, is also valuable. It is these detailed observations and careful planning which bring designs such as this to life, and ensures their longevity throughout the duration of the event. This particular installation kept fresh for seven days, with only minimal refreshing.
Featuring: Heuchera, Ornamental Grasses, Artichoke, Banksia, Celosia, Limonium and others.
