A Return To September

The return of September is a key moment for me, both personally and professionally. September is my refresh month. The New Year feels more about recovery than rebirth. The excesses and stresses of the festive season require rest and recalibration. September, with its warm air and changing light, is ripe with possibilities. The return-to-school mindset. A deep breath followed by an extended exhale, peppered with crisp leaves and cosy knitwear.

The end of term was an emotional one, as my son left his beloved junior school to begin his high school journey. When I started my business the fear of missing out over the summer holidays was pronounced, and foolish really. It led to butnout and dissatisfaction.

Now, the summer holidays are for joy, relaxation, space, experiences and learning. Flowers slot in around us, not the other way around. To not work for an extended period is a luxury, but for me it is vital. My business aspirations are long term and ambitious, and I navigate those against the realities of domestic life. The only way I achieve genuine balance and therefore joy, is through quite a determined allocation of space. To say no is a privilege I use often.

Now my favourite month has arrived, and I shall begin to update platforms and processes, learn and experience, plan and execute.

In development is an exciting project which was put on hold last year, for various tedious reasons. Now, its full steam ahead, and I am keeping a very attentive eye on the Bracken…..
